All figures include a weapon that can replace their right forearm to emulate the gameplay and can be swapped between figures. In 2023, Hasbro debuted the "Gamer Edition" subline of Studio Series, featuring three characters from War for Cybertron in the first wave, complete with game-inspired cardboard backdrops.
In addition, several designs that originated with the War for Cybertron video game were later released under the 2012-onwards revival of the Generations line to coincide with the Fall of Cybertron game, this time actually branded Fall of Cybertron. These five toys were later also redecoed in TakaraTomy's United line, this time representing their Generation 1 counterparts. Cliffjumper ( retool/ redeco of Cybertronian Bumblebee).
Despite this omission, the release of the first wave was timed within days of the games and novel, and their on-package bios were basically in sync with their fiction: Hasbro did produce a handful of new general retail toys based directly on designs from the video games, but for some reason they were sold in Generations packaging with no mention of War for Cybertron (save for a sticker announcing the game that was placed on the initial release of some of these figures). The only official War for Cybertron-branded toy was a Legends Class Starscream figure (a redeco of Legends of Cybertron Starscream) that came free with the purchase of a copy of the War for Cybertron video game from UK retailer. Hasbro has published a timeline online summarizing many events from the above media.
